The Village of Ovid is located on the northeast border of Clinton County along M-21. It functions mainly as a commuter town to the larger metro areas of Lansing, Saginaw and Owosso, strategically located in the middle of them all.

Agriculture is the town's original foundation. Several large operations, including the Michigan Milk Producers Association and Great Lakes Hybrids make their home in Ovid.  Meanwhile, retail establishments like Tom’s Western Store lure patrons from far and near.

The village has done a good job preserving much if its turn-of-the-century architecture including the old Congregational Church that was built in 1872 is listed
on the state and national historic register.

Ovid residents are proud of the school system that serves families in the Ovid and Elsie areas. Quality programming in the areas of both technical trade skills and computer technology has put Ovid-Elsie Area Schools on the map in educational circles.
